Webcaching

Mission:
Webcaching was my final project in the course Design of Graphical Interfaces. We were given a list of online services to choose one to build a concept and make a fully functional prototype demo for.

I chose Webcaching and declared that it will challenge the digital borders and bring people to new online places. By letting people become hiders, map drawers, treasure hunters and all in between the engagement will be on each individuals own level. Challenges come in different sizes and complexity to meet personal expectations and challenge the self. The generous reward system will empower positive feelings to continue exploring our growing surreal world.

So, Webcaching becomes a digital version of Geocaching. There will be similarities and physical connections. To find the url you might need to find something irl. Webcaching should though strive to even more entertain, challenge, inspire and reward the cacher. Not only a plastic jar under a stone.

Audience:
People who enjoy treasure hunting games and be rewarded.

Resources & Tools:
Me, My personal knowledge about geocaching, UX pin

Solution:
Write a detailed project description on who the thought users are and what the core idea is and how to play it. Then sketch on wireframes and design before going into prototype building.

Project Description ( in Swedish) on this link

UX pin was the prototype software used in this course. It was a software in beta version at the time so lots of extra time were put to get the technology to work.

I still believe Webcaching could become a really good game. Like pokemon go but for a broader audience. Imagine adding VR and AR to this! The possibilities are endless.
